When Raakkel’s mom first rejected her, I was quite put out and did not want to bottle feed her! I figured that I already had one too many things going in my life, and, trying to schedule in playing house and fulfilling the roll as ‘mommy ewe’ did not really seem all that appealing to me. The thought of raising a child feels much more fulfilling than raising a lamb, I mean, there is something ‘eternal’ about raising up a child as apposed to raising up something who’s prodigy is meant to aid you in your menu planning!
Needless to say, I was not very Christ like, at all, in my enthusiasm about taking care of her. However, when I had piped down, the Lord showed me a few reasons why I needed to care for her.
The main thing that I wanted to say in this entry is that I think that as daughters, Moms, Dads & sons, we tend to get caught up in the here and now, as to what we are working on in life, and, we forget to take a step back and see where God has brought us from, where He has us right now in life. And, where He is taking us. I know that (speaking for myself), I tend to take a lot for granted in life. After I had watched this video with Raakkel, (now on my you tube channel) I was a bit dumbfounded. Because, it brought back so many memories as to what journeys the Lord has taken my family and I on, and, how the simple small things in life, (like caring for a lamb) means so much more than just feeding a lamb.
We tend to get so caught up in how tired we are with the everyday drudgeries in chores, responsibilities, and life, that we don’t see what blessings we have and what they are teaching us. So, today I am going to look for the blessings and, tonight, I will ponder the lessons learned.
